Week 4-Algorithms

Algorithms play a big role with the content we see on Google when doing a daily search. Algorithms are important because they are responsible for giving us the most relevant content when we are searching for something on Google or any other search engine. Every day, Google is used by businesses to get their content seen by more people and while quality content helps them attract more people, algorithms also play a role in getting their website seen by more people. Keep reading to learn more about the importance of algorithms and what they do.

What you need to know about algorithms:

When you search for something on Google, you want to see search results that relate to what you are looking for. Algorithms constantly look at the keywords you search for to determine what kind of search results would work best. Algorithms do everything from interpreting what you mean when you misspell a word as well as interpret that multiple words have the same thing to bring you quality content. Algorithms also look to see if your search is board or specific as well as determine whether you are looking for something that is currently trending or just doing a random search.

What updates has Google made?

One of the latest algorithms updates Google made was a core update in May of 2020. This core update was aimed at helping people get the content and most up to date information they needed regarding COVID and the pandemic. The pandemic changed what people were looking and things that were relevant before the pandemic weren't relevant during the pandemic. A few lines from the article regarding the importance of algorithms and how the pandemic changed what people were looking for is shown below but the full article can be found by clicking here.

The main thing to keep in mind is that algorithms are constantly behind every search we do and help us get the content we are looking for.
