Week 6- Twitter and LinkedIn

Most people don't consider twitter an important social platform for growing a business, but Twitter is actually really beneficial to business owners and companies from a customer service perspective. Although a majority of Twitter users are younger, Twitter is a common platform for people to voice their opinions and state their feelings about almost anything making it easy for companies to see what people are saying about their products or services. Well some business owners may not see Twitter as an important media platform to have, it is important to remember that Twitter can actually help a company improve their products and services.

Twitter and Customer Service:
Twitter is ultimately a great way for businesses to see how they can improve their product by being able to see what people are tweeting about their product or company. Customers may tweet about an issue they are having or what they like about the product, which allows businesses to see what they can do to make their product better. Twitter even allows users to tag a company in their post using the @ sign, or by using a hashtag making it easier for a company to respond to tweets they are mentioned in. People want companies to respond to their concerns, and simply responding to comments and being active on twitter can even attract more customers from a business perspective. The book, Introduction to Social Media Marketing, mentions a key benefit of having a twitter account. "The bigger the company is, the more likely people will expect that if they tweet about an issue they’re having, the company will join in on the conversation from a customer service perspective" (Kelsey 75-76). People want companies to respond to their comments and concerns, and twitter is an easy way for businesses to do that.

LinkedIn:
Besides using Twitter, LinkedIn is also a another great social platform for businesses to have because it allows businesses to build powerful connections. Like any other social platform, it also is a good place to share meaningful content and reach more people. LinkedIn is also used by recruiters to find potential employees so having an account is a good idea even if you're not a business-owner because it can help you find the perfect job.
From a business perspective, having a LinkedIn account is important because it allows businesses the opportunity to find business partners and potential employees. Simply having a LinkedIn page is beneficial because if someone googles your company, your LinkedIn page will show up in the search results making it easier for people to find out more about your company.
