Week 7- Hootsuite

It's no doubt that social media is having a big influence on how we connect with each other, with so many people having not just one but multiple social media accounts. While having different social media accounts is fun, it can also be hard to easily manage and keep up with all your accounts. So is there is any way to easily manage all your accounts? The answer is yes with a tool known as Hootsuite.

What is Hootsuite?
The book, Introduction to Social Media Marketing, offers a great explanation of what Hootsuite is and how to sign up for an account. "Hootsuite is a tool that helps you manage social media by providing assistance on developing and posting content to multiple social networks" (Kelsey 97). Hootsuite is perfect for individuals or for business owners who want an easy way to post content to multiple social media platforms from one screen. It is generally free to sign up for an account, but you can also choose to upgrade your plan at a later time to get more benefits. You just need to enter your name, email, location, and password to start using Hootsuite, making the sign up process a breeze.

How does it work?
After creating an account, Hootsuite allows you to start adding your social media accounts. You can add a LinkedIn account, Facebook account, Instagram account, Twitter account, and even a Youtube account along with a few others making it perfect for anyone to use. After adding your media accounts, Hootsuite allows you to access your dashboard where you can start adding streams so that you can view what's being said or what you have posted on each of your media accounts. What makes Hootsuite great for business owners is that it easily allows them to see what people are saying about their product or service on various media platforms giving them an easy way to stay active and respond to what people are saying. Below is an example of what my dashboard looks like with a few of the streams I choose to ad.

A great feature about Hootsuite when it comes to creating a post is that you can even schedule posts. You do this by creating a post and clicking on the calendar icon to chose a date and time to schedule that post. What makes Hootsuite convenient is that when you create a post you can choose to make that post appear on all your media accounts by selecting all the accounts when choosing where to publish the post. Hootsuite is great for busy business owners because it allows them to easily create content as well as easily manage what people are saying on different media platforms. Another great feature about Hootsuite is that it also offers monitoring techniques that allow you to see how your posts are doing.
