Artificial Intelligence, or AI is a word that is appearing more and more as advances are being made in technology. My previous blog which can be found by clicking here, stressed the importance of AI and the steps needed to become more familiar with AI, but the final step in mastering AI involves becoming adept.
What does it mean to become adept?
The word adept, basically means to develop more knowledge and skills about AI by using AI platforms and tools and learning how to work with large amounts of data. The book, Surfing the Tsunami, is also very helpful in explaining what is meant by the word "adept". "In my opinion, becoming “adept” in AI does mean exploring the roots, including data science, and learning the core skills so that you have a flexible toolset" (Kelsey 120). This stage of learning is all about taking the time to actually learn AI inspired skills like learning how to code. One important thing to keep in mind here is that learning AI skills like coding can increase your chances of being hired in the future.
What are some ways to learn AI skills?
1. DataRobot (a great website to learn more about what AI can do with large amounts of data, you can even choose to partner with DataRobot if you're a business owner to see what DataRobot can do for your company in terms of AI)
2. Google (an excellent way to stay up to date with AI by being able to search for AI related news as well as platforms that can help you learn certain skills like coding)
3. Games and Apps (fun way to learn about AI, you can even search for apps/games that teach you how to code)
4. Coursera (platform that features free and paid courses that allow you to easily learn AI skills as well as even get a certification depending on the course)
What is AI up to these days?
AI is definitely here to stay so it is important to learn what AI is accomplishing these days. Besides being used in the medical field, artificial intelligence is also being used in the automobile industry. Companies like BMW and Tesla have been experimenting with AI and seeing what it can do. It's a possibility that self driving cars may exist in the future but there is still a lot of research and development that needs to be done in terms of AI. The important thing to note is that no matter what field you are in or what career you want, it is likely that AI will have an impact on your future and job. My advice is to stay up to date with AI, learn important skills, and keep in mind how important AI actually is.
