Week 1- Intro to Google Analytics

Today more and more businesses and organizations are recognizing the importance of analytics and what their data can tell them. Having the right tools to track your website traffic is important because it can tell you what you need to do to attract more customers or visitors to your website. Analytics basically means to obtain data and information about the people who visit your company website or social media sites. Analytics can tell businesses how long people are spending on their website, where they come from, as well as what people clicked on. There are many different ways of tracking analytics but one of the easiest ways is with Google Analytics.

What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free tool that businesses can use to track information about their website visitors. It is a helpful tool that many business owners use because it tells them how well their advertisements are doing in terms of how many people clicked on the ad or visited their website. It also tells businesses information like where their visitors are from along with other interesting facts. An article I came across on Google analytics mentions a great summary of what exactly Google Analytics does and why it is important. Below is a list taken from the article of what Google Analytics tracks in terms of data, but the full article can be found by clicking here.

Besides tracking website visitors and helping businesses improve their ads, Google Analytics is also impacting the job market. One thing to keep in mind is that having an Google Analytics certification can increase your chances of getting hired making it worthwhile to study it. Even digital marketing involves studying website traffic to see what could be done to improve ads, making Google Analytics a great skill to have. A cool feature about Google Analytics is that qualification is free, and with enough studying you can become certified and have your resume stand out to potential employers especially in the analytics field. My advice is to do research, learn about Google Analytics, and become certified!
