Week 14-Data tracking and its role in marketing

In this digital age, it is no shock to hear people say we are constantly being watched and tracked online. Whenever we search for something online, it is being tracked for various purposes. For example, you may search for new makeup one day and see ads tempting to you buy makeup on various platforms the next day. When it comes to marketing, tracked info becomes important because companies use what people search for to help make their ads more relevant and reach more people. With things being tracked it is important to watch what you share and post because you never know who will see it. It is also important to know that everything we do online or on social apps becomes a part of our digital identity.

What you need to know about online tracking:
With online tracking, it is hard to exactly know what data is out there, making it important to use caution when you decide to post online or share something on social media because you never know who will see it or how that data could be used. When it comes to marketing, businesses use online data involving what you search for to show you ads that are relevant to what you are looking for as a way to improve your shopping. Companies will even use Google Analytics to find important information regarding their website visitors. For example, Google Analytics shows companies data like what country they are searching from, what type of device they are using, the time most people visit their website and a whole bunch of other facts.
